Airlines receive hefty fines for transporting refugees without proper documents

Airlines have been fined more than €5 million for allowing refugees to fly into Ireland without proper documents in the past five years.

There were over 3,000 “undocumented cases” since 2019, with €1,500 charged in each case.

The airlines received 990 fines last year, equating to over €1.4 million, the latest figures show.
