MEPs to vote on controversial new laws to tighten migration across EU

MEPs will vote today on controversial new laws to tighten migration across the European Union.

The new pact – which is a decade in the making – would see common rules introduced across the bloc, including faster processing of asylum seekers.

It’s facing opposition from those who say it infringes on member states’ sovereignty and on human rights.
