Peter Murrell charged with embezzling funds from the Scottish National Party

The husband of former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been charged with embezzling funds from the Scottish National Party.

Peter Murrell – who is the former SNP chief executive – was taken in for questioning yesterday morning, more than a year after his first arrest.

Officers say he’s no longer in custody.

He’s also resigned his SNP membership.
