6 in 10 adults believe living standards will not meet needs after retirement

Six in ten adults feel uncertain that living standards after retirement will meet their needs, due to Ireland’s “ticking pensions time bomb”, according to a survey.

Currently, a third of Irish workers do not have pension cover outside the state pension.

Ailish McGlew – Head of Communications at later life lender Spry Finance who conducted the survey – says an increasing number of older people are looking elsewhere for supplemental income due to unsatisfactory pension payouts.
