The young man who was killed in a road collision in Inishowen last night has been named as 16 year old Kian Dawson.
Kian had been coming from Derry earlier in the evening with his friend.
The two men were the occupants in the car which appeared to go out of control before striking a wall and ending up in a field.
Kian died at the scene and the driver of the car suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for emergency treatment.
The R240 road, has remained closed for most of the day.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
