Donegal County Council is being urged to examine the cost effectiveness of wooden fences.
Cllr Michael McBride has argued that while in the moment, wood is the cheaper option, many fences were damaged by recent storm weather.
He added that in a case were there is no adverse weather, such fences inevitable rot and need replaced down the line.
He suggested a more long-term solution.
