IWDG bringing its floating classroom to Donegal Bay

The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group brings its Floating Classroom to Killybegs on Tuesday next.

The event brings students onto the water to learn about whales and dolphins in the ecosystem, and how researchers at sea work for their conservation.

Previously the group used the vessel ‘Celtic Mist’, but it has now been retired, so it they’re hiring Atlantic Coastal Cruises’ MV Sliabh Liag Allure to take local TY students on wildlife watching trips.

Cian Ó Nialáin is the group’s Education and Outreach Officer. He says Donegal Bay is an important habitat ..……..

There will also be an outreach event – more details here –

I have attached a poster for our outreach event which will take place in the Seamanship Centre on Tuesday 22nd. We will be joined by the IOLN and will bringing our message to an older local audience while also giving an opportunity for people to discuss marine matters that are important to them. 6pm to 9pm
Pending interest, there may be a sailing at 2pm on Sliabh Liag Allure same day. Anyone interested should contact me directly on cian.nilan@iwdg.ie
