Met Éireann says last month was the fourth warmest June on record.
Malin Head weather station recorded its highest maximum temperature for June since 1957 with 25.5 °C on Friday, the 20th.
The forecaster says that of the top 10 warmest Junes, five have occurred in the past 20 years.
However, sunshine levels were below average in most stations nationally.
