Seven Donegal projects taking place on Water Heritage Day

LAWPRO, the Local Authority Waters Programme has announced a €30,600 national programme for 82 events on ‘Water Heritage Day’.

Seven projects have been included in Donegal.

The Donegal projects being funded under the scheme will share just under €3,000.

The money goes to Nature NorthWest, Deele Community Anglers, Wild Inishowen, Cairde na hEaragaile, Kilcar Parish Council, Rathmullan Tidy Towns and Dunkineely Community CLG.

Junior Minister Christopher O’Sullivan says the Water Heritage Day Grants Scheme gives communities and groups across Ireland the opportunity to organise events that celebrate and raise awareness about their local waterbodies.

This scheme, he added, is an investment in the protection and restoration of good water quality nationwide. It allows people to create connections with their rivers, lakes, streams, wetlands and coastal waters in new and innovative ways.

Water Heritage Day, part of National Heritage Week, takes place on Sunday, August 24th.
