A driver traveling at 161km/h in a 100km/h zone was arrested over the weekend in Newtowncunningham.
On Saturday night last, the Buncrana roads policing unit made the detection which resulted in the vehicle being seized.
The motorist will now have to appear before the court.
Gardaí are urging the public to slow down to save lives.
