Ballybofey remains the place with the highest commercial vacancy rate in the country.
The commercial vacancy rate in Donegal was 20.3% in June 2025, which was higher than the national average of 14.6%.
According to the latest GeoDirectory Commercial Vacancy Rates Report, that’s an increase of 0.9% when compared to the same period the previous year.
Of the 80 main towns and urban areas surveyed by GeoDirectory, Ballybofey registered the highest commercial vacancy rate at 33.7%.
The lowest commercial vacancy rate in Donegal was in Buncrana at 13.8%.
Elsewhere in the county, the commercial vacancy rate in Bundoran was 14.3%, 21.8% in Donegal, and 27.5% in Letterkenny.
Services accounted for over half of the total occupied commercial units in Donegal in Q2 2025.
