The Food Safety Authority of Ireland have advised that Nestlé is voluntarily recalling specific batches of SMA infant formula and follow-on milk to the potential presence of Cereulide.
They say that this recall is precautionary and that there has been no reported cases of illness to date.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has said Cereulide is a toxin produced by some strains of the bacteria Bacillus Cereus, which can cause food poisoning and is extremely heat resistant.
Parents and guardians are being urged not to feed recalled products to their infant of young children.
The batch codes can be found on the base of the tin or box of powdered formulas, or the base of the outer box and on the side/top of the container for ready-to-feed formula.
