Jennifer Carroll MacNeill seeks to expand pharmacy scheme to include contraception

The Health Minister is hoping to add the contraception scheme to the list of common conditions for pharmacies, serving as an alternative to GPs.

The programme allows community pharmacists to prescribe for eight common conditions following a consultation, for a charge of €30-35.

The measure’s being brought to cabinet today.
