
Thousands of people are expected to gather at St Patrick’s Church in Meenaweal this afternoon for the funeral of singer Moya Brennan, who died on Monday evening at her home in Gweedore at the age of 73.
Since news of Moya Brennan’s death broke on Tuesday morning, tributes have continued to pour in from all corners of the globe to the harpist and singer who brought Irish music to audiences all over the world for over four decades.
Here, she is remembered as a woman who despite international fame, remained rooted in Donegal, and lived up to the name Clannad in her commitment to her family.
Having found fame with her siblings and uncles in Clannad, more recently, she was often seen on stage with her husband Tim and children Aisling and Paul.

Moya’s Funeral Mass will take place at 2 o’clock this afternoon at St Patrick’s Church, Meenaweal, followed by burial in Magheragallon Cemetery, Gweedore.
A shuttle bus will run from 12:30pm to 1:30pm between Ionad Naomh Pádraig (F92 EH6N) and Teach Paidí Óig (F92 PK22) to St Patrick’s Church, Meenaweal.
People are asked to use the shuttle bus where possible to help avoid congestion at the Chapel.
After the Mass, the bus will return passengers to their cars.
