President Connolly makes first official foreign visit to Spain

Catherine Connolly says the defence of democracy must be at the centre of the international agenda.

She’s attending a summit in Barcelona today, on what is her first foreign trip as president.

Addressing other leaders gathered at the ‘In Defence of Democracy’ conference, President Connolly said “Ireland is uniquely placed to offer a valuable perspective”, adding “multilateralism is not a luxury, it is a necessity”.
