Business Matters. EP 296: Awards and more jobs at TCS Letterkenny – plus turning reduced to clear food into extra sales

In this week’s Business Matters, Chris Ashmore gets an update at what’s happening at the Tata Consultancy Service’s Global Delivery Centre in Letterkenny, plus he finds out about Gander Ireland which helps retailers to turn reduced-to-clear food into sales by promoting discounted items in real time.

Tata Consultancy Services, a global leader in IT services, consulting and business solutions operates a Global Distribution Centre in  Letterkenny which is one part of an enormous Indian headquartered company that employs more than 650,000 people around the world in more than 55 countries.

The Letterkenny facility has won a number of awards, and was recently presented with the ‘Diversity, Inclusion & Workplace Culture Award’ at the Invest in Ireland Awards 2026.

Chris paid a visit to the premises and spoke with Andrea McBride, Head of TCS’s  Global Delivery Centre, Letterkenny, about the award, and the company’s continued expansion. Indeed, it is currently recruiting and has more than 200 positions available.

Meanwhile, in part two of the programme, Chris speaks with Adam Emerson, founder and head of Gander Ireland. It’s proving that cutting food waste through the use of cutting edge technology can boost profits and support sustainability. Gander has been working closely with the Maple Group, the Irish retail group headquartered in Milford, which has become the first in the Republic of Ireland to use the AI powered technology to tackle food waste across its stores.

Adam explains how the business works, the whole concept behind it, and how he expects further growth in Donegal.
