Bank of Ireland warn of ‘significant spike’ in fraudulent texts

Bank of Ireland is warning there is a significant spike in fraud texts impersonating it.

The bank says anyone can be targeted, and the scammers create messages which give a sense of urgency to respond.

In some cases, scam texts can even appear under trusted contact names stored in a customer’s phone, according to the bank – making them even harder to spot.

People are being reminded to ignore links or phone numbers in texts and if they have concerns to call the bank.
