
Mark English will run in the 800M Semi-Final at the inaugural World Ultimate Championships in Budapest this evening.
Ireland’s newly crowned European Champion goes into a stacked field of the world’s best 800m runners this evening.
Olympic Champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the fastest man over the distance this year, leads the overall entry list which includes other top contenders like Letterkenny native English, Djamel Sedjati, 2023 World Champion Marco Arop, Brandon Miller, Yanis Meziane and British runner Max Burgin.
The Finn Valley AC man ranks 6th on the entry list in terms of fastest times this year with 1:42.97.
Wanyonyi is the favourite to take the first ever 800M Men’s title in the competition – the Kenyan has run a 1:41.76 this year already and is chasing David Rudisha’s World Record of 1:40.91.
The top four in each of this evening’s two semi-finals will qualify for tomorrow’s final.
