Claire Hanna believes President Trump’s comments yesterday – that reunification is going to happen eventually and may as well happen now – demonstrate just how far the conversation about Ireland’s constitutional future has shifted.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Taoiseach says the US president’s comments “should come as a surprise to no one”, as he’s been “consistent in his view that he sees unity in Ireland as the optimal outcome.”
