The Taoiseach has defended his Government’s record on cross-border co-operation in healthcare during a sitting of the Dáil.
Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín criticised the Fianna Fáil leader over his record on preparations for a United Ireland and cross-border healthcare, and urged him to raise the issue with the British Prime Minister.
In response, Micheál Martin highlighted investment in Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry as an example of successful cross-border collaboration in healthcare.
He pointed to the hospital’s cancer centre and cardiac care services, saying the investment is particularly significant for people in Donegal:
