Police in Strabane are warning anyone tempted to become involved in anti-social behaviour of the possible consequences, and of the impact of anti-social behaviour on the community.
It follows an incident on Bradley Way in the town on Friday last, which saw one young male arrested.
The PSNI say at approximately 6.20 on Friday evening last, they responded to a report of a large plume of smoke in the Bradley Way area of Strabane. When officers arrived, a group of young people were present. Two fireworks were let off, in the direction of the police.
One young male was subsequently detained for Assault on Police and Possessing a firework without a licence. That matter is now being dealt with by the Youth Diversion officer.
While police were in the area, they also located a quantity of suspected stolen pallets, which have been seized.
In a statement, the PSNI say there’s been a recent increase in antisocial behaviour in the Strabane area, and they’re urging anyone tempted to get involved to think about the possible impact of their actions on their community and on themselves.
They’re also appealing to parents and guardians to be aware of where their children are, and what they are doing.
