Tanaiste Simon Harris has told the Dail a proposed greenway – cycle lane development along part of the disused rail line between Claremorris and Sligo will be adjacent to the tracks, and won’t affect plans to restore rail services.
There’s a long standing campaign to have the Western Rail Corridor restored all the way to Sligo, with a campaign here to have a line from Letterkenny to Sligo via the Twin Towns, Donegal Town, Ballyshannon and Bundoran.
In the Dail, Sligo, Leitrim and South Donegal TD Martin Kenny urged the government to ensure that the proposed greenway development development does not compromise the restoration of rail services on that line……………
