Letterkenny Town Council is to change its traffic by-laws to make the first half hour’s parking in the town centre free. It’s expected the change will be implemented in early December.
Officials advised against the change, saying the council would lose a substantial amount of money as a result, and on street parking fees would have to increase to a euro an hour in an attempt to offset the change.
However, members unanimously agreed that the half hour free parking should be implemented.
