Letterkenny is set to receive two million euro under the Designated Urban Centres Grants Scheme, but only if a similar amount is provided by Donegal County Council.
The scheme envisages investments in Irish urban centres to the order of €80 million over the next five years.
The scheme is backed by European Regional Development Fund, but only if matching funding is provided by the local authority.
