Donegal Garda Representative Member Brendan O’Connor says although he welcomes additional resources to An Garda Siochana, Donegal is unlikely to benefit much from it.
“Operation Thor” was launched yesterday which will target six known gangs and around 200 offenders believed to be behind a spate of robberies around the country.
€5 million in funding will go towards extra patrol hours and high powered vehicles for the armed Regional Response Unit.
However Brendan O’Connor says the region is vast and the added resources will not solve the problems in the county:
