Almost 26 thousand people have signed an online petition to ban super trawlers off the Irish coast.
The petition was sparked following news the second largest trawler in the world has been sailing off the Donegal coast catching an unknown amount and species of fish.
The trawler is nearly 140 metres long and has the capacity to catch over 9-thousand tonnes of fish while local fishermen are forbidden to fish the waters under EU laws.
The petition was set up on Tuesday, with the aim of reaching 30 thousand signatures.
