Notorious serial killer Robert Black has died in prison in Northern Ireland.
The Scottish-born killer was serving 12 life sentences for the murders of four schoolgirls in the 1980s.
He had been described broadly in the media as the main suspect in the disappearance of 7 year old Mary Boyle in Cashelhard, Ballyshannon in 1977.
In 1994, Black was found guilty of three unsolved child murders in the 1980s but was also key suspect in the Mary Boyle case as it’s understood he was in the area at the time of her disappearance.
Her body has never been found.
Black began attacking young girls in his teens and subsequently went on to become the worst paedophile and child killer in British history.
At the time of Mary’s disappearance, Gardai in Donegal discovered he was a frequent visitor to the county and it’s believed he stayed in and around the Annagry area.
He also appeared on a Garda charge sheet for after-hours drinking around that time and his presence was again recorded in the area a year after Mary went missing.
He died last night prison in Northern Ireland aged 68 in non-suspicious circumstances.
