Ireland have suffered a shock defeat to Oman in their opening game at the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in India.
In a dramatic finish, Oman hit 14 runs in their final over to take an historic win.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Ireland finished with a total of 154 off 5 wickets with Gary Wilson top-scoring with 38 runs from a 34-ball knock.
William Porterfield scored 29 while Donemana’s Andrew McBrine was 10 not out.
McBrine, and Bready’s Craig Young and Boyd Rankin were among the Irish bowlers who couldn’t stop the Oman momentum.
Bangladesh is next up for Ireland on Friday, they won the opening Group A match of the tournament as they defeated the Netherlands by 8 runs.
