Jake Gyllenhaal will co-star with Ryan Reynolds in ‘Life’.
The ‘Southpaw’ actor has joined the cast of the science-fiction movie which tells the story of the crew of the International Space Station who discover a life form on Mars which turns out to be more intelligent than expected and also extremely dangerous, according to Variety.
Ryan was originally tipped to star in the movie, which has been written by ‘Deadpool’ scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese but a scheduling clash with the action thriller ‘Hitman’s Bodyguard’ has forced him to take on a smaller supporting role instead.
This has led to Jake being cast in the leading part. ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ actress Rebecca Ferguson also co-stars in the new movie.
Daniel Espinosa is directing the film, with David Ellison and Dana Goldberg producing.
Meanwhile, all three actors have a busy year ahead; Ferguson is set to star in ‘Girl on the Train’, while Reynolds has ‘The Truth in Advertising’ and ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’, along with a ‘Deadpool’ sequel.
And Gyllenhaal is current in Boston where he is producing and starring in Boston Marathon bombing drama ‘Stronger’.
