Calls have made on the Donegal Islands Committee to write to the incoming Minister for the Environment requesting an urgent meeting in relation to the future of Salmon fishing in Donegal.
It’s been claimed that fishermen across the county and further afield have been devastated due to the restrictions in salmon fishing while also having to pay an ‘excessive’ license fee.
Councillor Micheal Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig says it’s time for the ban on salmon fishing to be reconsidered and the incoming Minister needs to hear the concerns of the local fishing community:
