With the senior cup first round ties looming this weekend the local Union took the opportunity to unveil Bank of Ireland as the competition’s new sponsor. Speaking ahead of the launch, Union Chairman, Andrew Fleming said he hoped it was the start of a long-term partnership between the two and hoped that the deal would prove beneficial to both.
“I am delighted to be welcoming our new partner on board and would like to thank Bank of Ireland for supporting one of the most unique trophies in Irish cricket. This competition remains the only two-innings blue riband final on the island and Bank of Ireland is an organisation that we are very happy to be associated with.”
“In also expressing sincere gratitude to our out-going sponsor I hope that this new partnership will be as long and as high-profile as before. It has been a massive help to have had the bank’s Business Manager, Ian Stone, working with us on this association as his knowledge of the North West cricket scene has helped to progress discussions extensively.”
Mr Stone was also delighted with the announcement and said that it meant a lot to him personally. “I’ve grown up being involved in North West cricket so this is especially poignant for me. I am thrilled that Bank of Ireland has been able to become associated with the North West senior cup as I am very familiar with the long and proud tradition of the competition.”
“I look forward to developing our partnership throughout the summer and intend to play as much of a role as possible in promoting the competition as it progresses.”
