Bonagee Utd’s Ronan McKinley was a second half substitute as the Republic of Ireland u15’s drew 0-0 with Poland.
McKinley was introduced to the game with 24 minutes left replacing Seamus Keogh.
Jason Donohue’s Ireland side faced the Poles in their first game of the season in Lomza and the Irish Head Coach will be looking for his players to learn from their first taste of the youngest international level.
“It was the first game at this level for both sides so naturally there will be nervy performances. I was happy that we created chances but unfortunately couldn’t score. The disallowed goal was a marginal offside call. The players afterwards were reasonably pleased with how they did but know they’ve something to build on for the second game now.”
The sides will meet again at the same venue on Thursday (3.00pm Irish).
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND: Harry Halwax, Alex Dunne, James Furlong, Cian Kelly, Brandon Holt, Festy Ebosele, Ademipo Odubeko, Troy Parrott, Sean Kennedy, Timi Sobowale, Seamus Keogh. Subs: Cormac Moore for Kelly 20 mins; Josh Girugi for Ebosele 45; Conor Carty for Odubeko 54; Ronan McKinley for Keogh 66.
