A Derry and Strabane District Councillor believes that the City of Derry Airport should close as it’s not up to the ratepayer alone to support it.
Despite a £2.5 million funding commitment for the City of Derry Airport made by the Northern Ireland Executive in 2016, the money has yet to be released due to the on-going impasse at Stormont.
Cllr. Patsy Kelly believes the money from the ratepayer could be better spent elsewhere and says the people of Derry and Strabane cannot continue to sustain the airport in the interim:
