Donegal North East Deputy Dr James mc Daid is a step closer to rejoining the Fianna Fail parliamentary party
This follows the announcement on Friday that the government will now proceed with the vaccination of first year girls against cervical cancer.
Health Minister Mary Harney says she has renegotiated the cost of drugs with the companies, and that will allow the vaccinations proceed.
It was the decision not to proceed with the vaccination programme in December 2008 that led to Dr James Mc Daid to abstain in the Dail and lose the Fianna Fail party whip.
Speaking to Highland Radio News , Dr Mc Daid said while there are political questions to be ironed out, the most important thing is the vaccine is now back on track:
