A security alert in the Carnhill area of Derry has ended.
Police responded to a report yesterday evening of a suspicious object found outside a business premises.
Police, along with Ammunition Technical Officers attended the scene and a number of houses were evacuated while the object was examined.
Inspector Lavery has confirmed that the incident has been declared a hoax.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to contact them on 101.
