The quick actions of a member of the public have been praised following the rescue of a teenage girl off Bundoran beach over the weekend.
Bundoran RNLI and the Rescue 118 helicopter were tasked shortly after 4pm on Saturday afternoon following a report from Malin Head Coast Guard that three people had got into difficulty after getting caught in a rip current and while two had made it to safety, a third, the 14 year old, was being taken out to sea.
As the crew made their way to the scene, a member of the public grabbed a lifebuoy, jumped into the water, and made his way to the girl where he held her until the lifeboat arrived.
