New pharmacy scheme to allow domestic violence victims to access support

Victims of domestic violence and coercive control can call into their local pharmacy for support, under a new initiative.

850 chemists nationwide are placing a small purple sign on their shop fronts from today, indicating to victims support and resources are available inside.

Those in a dangerous situation will be taken to a consultation room in the pharmacy, where they can share their experience and contact will be made with a specialist domestic abuse service or the Gardaí, when appropriate.
