The Justice Minister has confirmed Daniel Kinahan will face charges of directing an organised crime organisation when he returns to Dublin this evening.
The alleged gang boss is due to land at Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnell at around 6.30pm.
Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan and his counterpart in the United Arab Emirates have today released a joint statement, praising those involved in bringing Daniel Kinahan back to Ireland.
Minister O’Callaghan says today’s extradition from Dubai “sends a clear message that suspected perpetrators of serious and organised crime will find no safe haven from justice”.
As part of a major high-security operation, Mr. Kinahan is being flown from the UAE on the new government jet.
Upon his arrival this evening, he’s set to be taken straight to the Criminal Courts of Justice, under armed escort, to be charged before the Special Criminal Court.
