Elton John says he hopes his collaboration with Britney Spears will help ‘restore her confidence’ to keep making new music.

‘Hold Me Closer’ – out today – is the popstar’s first single since the end of the legal arrangement which saw her dad control most aspects of her life.

The 75-year-old’s told the Guardian he doesn’t want to see any artists in a ‘dark place’.
