Over 5,000 social housing offers refused in Ireland in last two years

Over five thousand offers of social housing were refused in the last two years.

Small bedrooms, a lack of garden space and no storage for motorbikes were among the reasons given by households.

Almost 25 thousand offers of social housing were made in 2021 and 2022, according to the Irish Independent.

Executive Director of the Simon Communities of Ireland, Wayne Stanley, says many will turn down an offer for genuine reasons:
