The Finance Minister has been asked to talk to the Marine Minister Charlie McConalogue about a implementing a fuel subsidy for the inshore fishing sector.
The plea to Minister Michael McGrath came in the Dail from Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn, during the debate on a Sinn Fein motion calling for the scrapping of planned increases in the excise duty on fuel.
Deputy MacLochlainn told TDs that despite the fact that the Irish fleet was more impacted by Brexit than any other in Europe, there’s been no support for the inshore sector.
