Garda commissioner will not be extending his contract

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris (Centre) at today’s meeting of the Donegal Joint Policing Committee.

The Garda Commissioner won’t be extending his contract.

Drew Harris is due to step down from the job in around 10 months time, having already extended his initial contract by 2 years.

However the Irish Times reports Commissioner Harris, who became Commissioner in 2018, has turned down an offer from Government of a further contract extension.
