The man in his 80s killed on the road in North Inishowen has been named locally as Michael Toland of Annagh, Clonmany.
He was struck by a van close to his home at around 6:20pm last evening.
The road between Clonmany and Ballyliffin remains closed to facilitate a technical examination, with local diversions in place.
