
There are calls for an urgent review of fire hydrants to be carried out in the Glenties Municipal District.
Concern has been raised after the fire service encountered difficulties in accessing water when responding to a major fire at St Mary’s Church, Derrybeg in the early hours of Easter Monday.
It’s understood the fire service had to resort to accessing water from the river beside the Church.
Councillor John Shéamuis O’Fearraigh says it’s vital fire hydrants are regularly reviewed and serviced, and the first step must be to establish whose responsibility it is to do so……………
