Ciaran McGonagle wins four marathons in four days

Letterkenny AC’s Ciaran McGonagle won all four marathons in the Extreme North Quadrathon run over four successive days.

It was a considerable achievement, not least when one considers the very challenging and hilly terrain in Inishowen.

He was first in all four events, the Kinnego Marathon, Malin Head Marathon, Mamore Marathon and Muff Marathon – with an overall time of 11 hours, 33 minutes and 59 seconds.

Padraig Brennan for Clonmel AC won the overall title for the four half marathons.

Warm weather added to the challenge for all the participants.
