
Donegal Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher has made calls for a parliamentary meeting within his party to finalise Fianna Fáil’s nomination for the Áras race.
The party hasn’t run it’s own candidate since the election of Mary McAleese, who filled the role from 1997 until 2011.
As it stands, both Fianna Fail and Sinn Fein have both yet to decide if they will run their own candidates or back another candidate.
