Presidential candidate Heather Humphreys says she plans to visit Donegal to brush up on her Irish if elected.
The presidential candidate was the Minister for the Gaeltacht in 2014 despite not fluently speaking the language.
However, speaking on RTÉ’s Drivetime yesterday in the first head to head presidential debate, Ms. Humphries said she did attend the Gaeltacht in Donegal and pledged to return if elected to reinforce her confidence in speaking Gaelige.
She also praised her successor as Minister of the Gaeltacht Joe McHugh, a former Donegal deputy in learning the language.
