The redevelopment of Buncrana Community Hospital has now been pushed back until early next year, the works were due to begin in June.
The HSE have said the construction period is expected to last around 18 months.
Services that are usually carried out in Buncrana are now being delivered at Carndonagh Community Hospital and Nazareth House in Fahan as a result.
