It was an eventful day’s rallying in the Kerry countryside yesterday!
Donegal’s Donagh Kelly and Rory Kennedy defended the Killarney Historic Rally title they won last year but it wasn’t without drama as WRC star Kris Meeke led for the majority of the rally but ran into engine difficulty on the penultimate stage on Moll’s Gap.
Kelly and Kennedy took advantage and finished just 1.5 seconds ahead of National Historic Rally winners John O’Donnell and Paddy Robinson – both crews were in BMW M3s.
Robert Duggan and Ger Conway ended the day in third spot.
Ivan Hurley of Radio Kerry has the full round up of the day’s action in The Kingdom…
Ivan spoke to winning driver Donagh Kelly at the end of the Moll’s Gap stage after his victory yesterday evening…
The modified section of the rally was won by local driver Colin O’Donoghue, while Chris Armstrong took 2nd and Gary McPhillips came third.
