The number of people arrested for drink or drug driving in December almost halved in the Derry and Strabane area compared to last year.
According to figures released by the PSNI, between the 1st December and 1st January, 23 drivers in the Derry City and Strabane policing district were arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
The figure for the previous year was 40, marking a 43% decrease.
The data covers the period of the authorities’ Christmas road safety appeal.
